Crown Point recognizes contractor for Simmons Woods award and honors off‑duty firefighter for lifesaving response

Mayor Land presented a statewide recognition the city received for the Simmons (also referenced as Sherman) Woods Park project and invited contractor David Watson and his team to be acknowledged for their role and cost savings on the project.

David Watson accepted the recognition and said, "It's a pleasure going to work at Crown Point. It really is," as staff and council members thanked the contractor and project team.

The board also honored firefighter Dave Dickerson as employee of the month. Fire leadership recounted an April 11 incident in which Dickerson, off duty and nearby, responded to a call for a 4‑year‑old with a tracheotomy; Dickerson assisted until the ambulance crew arrived. The chief noted that Dickerson and his family have worked with the department to provide training and real‑world exposure for paramedics who must care for children with tracheotomies. "I just want to say...I appreciate the nomination and thanks guys for coming out and supporting us," Dickerson said.

The board took photos and congratulated recipients before moving on to the remainder of the agenda.
