Board members and administrators used the recognition portion of the meeting to spotlight student and staff achievements across the district.
Dr. Harp introduced three honorees from Middle School North: eighth-grader Isaac Hayden (national junior honor society, state spell‑off team), support staff member Victoria Hayes (noted for work supporting students with IEPs), and seventh-grade math teacher Amy O'Brien (recognized for classroom leadership and sponsorship of extracurriculars including Best Buddies and the student journalism club). "He's an outstanding student who consistently demonstrates kindness, curiosity, and strong character," Dr. Harp said of Isaac.
Representatives of Center Grove High School detailed recent music accomplishments: the CG Singers traveled to New York City for workshops and saw Broadway productions; choirs performed with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra; and the varsity show choirs completed an undefeated season capped by grand-champion honors at nationals in Nashville. Chris Draven, the high school’s orchestra director, said several quartets qualified for state and earned gold ratings; the district also fielded a full symphony (band and strings) for the first time in about 20 years.
The board also introduced Trent Morehead, the incoming head basketball coach, who thanked staff and families and said he was excited to join the district.
These recognitions were presented without formal action; administrators and trustees thanked students, staff and families for their contributions.
