Danville swears in three new police officers

Danville officials administered the oath of office to three newly hired police officers at the start of the council meeting.

Chief Hilton introduced the recruits as Jack Redart, Philip Bo and Isabella Edington and praised their combined experience, leadership and commitment to public service. The officers recited the oath to “support the Constitution of the United States and the state of Indiana” and to faithfully discharge their duties as police officers for the town of Danville. Family and friends were invited to take photographs after the ceremony.

The chief said the hires rounded out a long recruiting process and brought a mix of criminal-investigations experience (Redart), military and policing background (Philip Bo) and college-level training and community-focused energy (Isabella Edington). Council members thanked the new officers and the department for narrowing a large applicant pool to three candidates.

The swearing-in was followed by a brief break in the council’s business for photographs and recognition; the meeting then resumed with regular agenda items.
