The Shawnee County Board approved a contract with Evergreen Solutions LLC for a comprehensive compensation study at its May 21 meeting.
Angela Lewis, the county's director of administrative services, told the board the study will provide market data and analysis to inform future hiring and retention efforts. "Conducting a comprehensive compensation study for classified and unclassified employees is an important step in ensuring that we have ongoing qualified candidates and that we're able to retain them," Lewis said. Mark Hulcom of Evergreen Solutions joined the meeting by Zoom for the item.
Commissioner Mays said on the record that they did not believe the study was necessary and would vote no. Commissioners Cook and Ripon moved and seconded the contract approval; the motion passed 2–1.
The study will examine pay for both classified and unclassified employees; staff said Evergreen conducted the county's prior study implemented in 2022.
