The Town of Loxahatchee Groves Roadway, Equestrian Trails, and Greenway Committee voted to compile a consolidated list of priorities to present to the town council so council can direct which items the committee should pursue.
Chair Frank Sciola said the goal is to stop ‘‘spitballing’’ and give council a clear set of proposals the committee can implement. ‘‘We’re here to work on items that council is supposed to push to us,’’ Sciola said, urging members to submit ideas so staff can combine them into a single prioritized package.
Public Works Director Craig Lauer told members he is assembling contractor price estimates for different roadway approaches, including staff‑led prep and turnkey paving contracts. Lauer said he’s collecting bids to provide council with cost comparisons and recommended against using millings as a long‑term paving solution.
Members agreed to email individual lists of suggestions to Lauer; staff will condense submissions and present the top three or four items to council. The committee discussed whether council should appoint a special subcommittee for specific projects and noted the fifth seat on RETAC remains vacant.
Procedural votes at the start of the meeting approved the agenda and three sets of minutes by voice vote, each passing 3–0. New members Katie Lakeman and Jody Jansen were sworn in during the meeting.
The committee tentatively scheduled its next meeting for June 25, pending staff confirmation. The committee did not take any binding action on projects at this meeting and will return to council with a prioritized list for direction.
