Police to follow up after business owner requests extra patrols near House of Hookahs

A business owner asked the Warren City Council to request extra police patrols outside House of Hookahs on 9 Mile, presenting video evidence and reporting a recent serious incident.

Captain Paul Hollis told the council the matter "was brought to our attention this afternoon" and that the department is addressing it. "Community policing officers will be reaching out," Hollis said, adding officers are reviewing the neighboring business history after a prior "very serious incident" reported at another location.

A councilmember characterized the owner's concern as urgent enough to refer to the police for follow-up; the item was received and filed by the council. The council did not take additional formal action beyond referring the matter to law enforcement and scheduling follow-up by community policing officers.

The council also noted past violence connected to a related site: participants in the discussion recalled a violent incident they said occurred when a similar business opened on 8 Mile several years ago. Captain Hollis did not provide a detailed timeline in the meeting but said officers would investigate and contact the complainant.
