A motion to place assistant Marty Feeney’s compensation on the next Town of Needham Retirement Board agenda carried after a roll-call vote May 21, setting the item for executive-session discussion.
Board member Mr. Morales moved to put “Mr. Feeney’s situation and his salary” on the June agenda, specifying the item would address cost-of-living raises over the last seven years and giving a sample figure of $4,812.80. The motion was seconded by Jay Steeves.
Roll-call voting recorded Mrs. Tatiana Swanson voting no and the remaining roll-call members voting yes, producing a majority to place the personnel item on the agenda. Chair Michelle Vaillancourt said the chair would add the item to next month’s agenda because the motion carried despite the chair’s own vote.
Board members discussed procedure for executive-session handling of personnel matters and whether a separate motion would be needed for alternative pay approaches such as retention bonuses or longevity payments. The board did not debate the merits of any specific pay change in open session; members agreed the matter would be handled in executive session next month.
The motion does not itself change Feeney’s pay; it only schedules the personnel discussion and possible action for the June meeting.
