Benton County approves collections contract with Dubuque County (Resolution 26-43)

Benton County supervisors voted to approve resolution 26-43, authorizing a collections contract (form 280E) with Dubuque County.

A county staff member said the contract preserves a 50/50 split of collections revenue and that the agreement is the standard form used in prior years. The staff member said the county received the signed copy from Dubuque and only needed the Benton County chairman’s signature before filing the agreement.

During discussion a board member noted the agreement’s baseline terms are set by state code and that the length of the contract has historically been multiyear. The board moved to approve the resolution; roll call indicated board members voted in favor and staff said they would file the contract with the Secretary of State after signing.

No public comment was recorded. Staff said they will maintain oversight of the collections process and return to the board if any substantive changes are needed.
