Committee advances permits, contracts and equipment purchases including microbrewery permit, road design contract and fleet buys

The Finance Committee cleared a number of business permits, contracts and equipment purchases on May 19 and recommended them to the governing body.

Permits and small‑scale items: The committee recommended approval of an application for a microbrewery permit filed for Joerger Hun Brewing LLC at 3521 East Lincoln Way after staff (City Clerk Kylie Soden) confirmed applicable reviews were complete and applicant Fred Hirs identified himself.

Contracts and roadwork: City Engineer Tom Cobb said the city selected Sunrise Engineering through a qualifications‑based process for design and surveying work on the Yellowstone Road and Del Range Boulevard rehabilitation and traffic improvements project; the professional services agreement was for $384,100 and is funded from the 1% specific‑purpose (fifth‑penny) tax.

Fleet and equipment purchases: The committee accepted bids and recommended approval for multiple purchases including a $99,985 tow‑behind vibratory roller to improve pothole patching; a $78,819 crew‑cab 3/4‑ton pickup for the traffic division; a one‑ton utility truck (bid amount recorded in the packet) for street and alley operations; three half‑ton pickups for Animal Control ($182,998); a Type 6 wildland brush truck for Cheyenne Fire Rescue (sole bid, up to $343,854) that was coordinated with a state grant; and a $47,031 half‑ton crew cab truck for landfill operations. Committee members repeatedly framed these items as safety and service improvements.

Each of the above motions carried in committee and will be placed on the governing body agenda for final approval.
