Marlene Bush of the Monterey County Department of Social Services said the department will host its fifth annual One‑Stop Community Center open house and resource fair on June 12 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at 730 La Guardia Street in Salinas.
"This is our fifth year, and it is on June 12th from 1 to 3:00 p.m. at the One‑Stop Community Center in Salinas," Bush said. She described the event as free, family‑friendly and designed to connect residents with multiple county and nonprofit services in one location.
Bush said the event uses a multigenerational approach to serve parents, children, older adults, people with disabilities and family caregivers. Exhibitors will include employment services, family caregiver support, community benefits, education and children's services, child‑care support, legal assistance and Meals on Wheels programs. She said the fair has grown from about 15 providers at its inception to more than 50 this year and that the first 400 families in line will receive a gas gift card (sponsored by Goodwill). Free food and entertainment (including a U‑Jam dance instructor) will be available.
The event is hosted by the Monterey County Department of Social Services with core partners such as the Military and Veterans Affairs Office and Behavioral Health. Bush directed residents to the county’s social channels for more information and the department’s Instagram account, Monterey County DSS.
Bush said last year’s event drew about 400 attendees and that county staff are prepared to welcome families and connect them with services at the One‑Stop Community Center.
