O'Fallon proclaims National Public Works Week, thanks crews for infrastructure work

Mayor Eric Van Hook read a city proclamation declaring May 17–23, 2026 as National Public Works Week in O'Fallon and invited Public Works Director Jeff Taylor and his team to the front of the council chamber.

The proclamation, citing the American Public Works Association theme and the essential role of engineers, managers and employees, thanked public works staff for their work on transportation, water supply and treatment, and solid waste systems that contribute to residents' quality of life. Director Jeff Taylor and staff received applause from council members and attendees.

Council Member Fony later thanked public works employees for responding to complaints and maintenance needs in older neighborhoods, calling their work “truly appreciated.” The proclamation was ceremonial and no council action was required.
