Resident urges county action on busy Scotchroy Road intersection; city pledges continued coordination

At the May 18 meeting, resident Jonathan Boseman told the council he and his father were seriously injured in a crash at the Scotchroy Road and Old Vincent's Trail intersection last Thanksgiving and urged action on safety improvements as traffic increases.

Boseman said he lives between O'Fallon and Lebanon and grew up in O'Fallon; he asked whether the city has plans to work with the county on a four‑way stop, traffic signal or roundabout. He said the intersection and nearby Old Vincent's Trail “get really, really busy” and described weeks of therapy after the crash.

City Administrator Grant Litkin responded that the intersection is under county jurisdiction and that the city will continue to work with the county on safety options. Council Member Roach, who told the chamber he also lives off that corridor, noted multiple serious crashes and urged infrastructure changes that account for driver error, not only enforcement. The council did not set a specific timeline for changes but repeated that coordination with the county is ongoing.
