Interim Library Director Donna Dukes told the board the library has placed the "War Comes Home" exhibit on the main floor. Dukes said the exhibit features stories of veterans through personal letters from the Civil War through recent conflicts and runs from May 18 to July 12. "We have a war comes home exhibit on the main floor... it runs from May 18th to July 12th," Dukes said.
Trustees praised recent programs and exhibits and noted some events fill quickly. Staff described using wait lists for oversubscribed programs and said some presenters can increase capacity while others (particularly outside presenters donating time) may be harder to expand. "Some of the programs were able to do that where we can increase the number of people," staff said of certain events where presenter availability allowed a larger audience.
Trustees also asked about a new dedicated teen space; staff said it has been rolled out on the main floor near the young adult collection, includes seating and a teen-space logo, and is available during regular library hours.
The board heard several event highlights from trustees including local partnerships (Friends of the Library), a Battle of the Books scheduled for Sept. 29, and other upcoming community activities. Trustees and staff said they will continue to monitor demand and consider additional sessions or options where feasible.
The board did not take formal votes on programs; staff will continue to manage wait lists and explore scheduling options to serve more participants.
