Bedford County veterans office reports 55 April office visits, 64 transports to VA hospitals; Memorial Day services set

Bedford County officials reviewed the veterans services report on May 19, saying the office recorded 55 office visits in April and transported 64 veterans to VA hospitals that month.

The Veterans Services Director summarized outreach efforts and praised the United Veterans Council of Bedford County — composed of DAV, VFW and American Legion members — for assisting veterans in need. "They're doing great great things right now in the veterans community. They're reaching out for assistance," the presenter said, noting ongoing programs to connect veterans across the state's 95 counties through a web‑based Tennessee Department of Veteran Services resource.

Officials reminded the public of a Memorial Day ceremony set for 11 a.m. on May 25 on the courthouse square and announced a health and veterans fair scheduled for Sept. 12 at Musgrave Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The presenter invited questions and thanked staff for their work; committee members moved and approved the report for the record.

The report was presented as routine committee business and no formal policy actions or new funding were proposed at the meeting.
