Dr. Becky presented the district's Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) update and told trustees the district has 223 designated teachers this cycle, representing an annual payout of about $1.933 million.
She explained that recent state changes added a new "acknowledged" designation level and raised allotment amounts for several tiers; had the new level applied to last year’s captured data, the district would have had roughly 29 additional teachers qualify and the payout would have risen towards a projected $2.398 million.
Dr. Becky credited coaching cycles, intentional campus improvement goals and professional learning for steady gains: she said many teachers advanced from recognized to exemplary and from exemplary to master during the multi‑year program. She noted the stipend payments were distributed this week and that designations last five years; the district will continue to submit annual data and an updated submission in October will reflect the new funding structure.
The update also described how the local designation system uses a teacher performance measure and a student‑growth measure (TAKS/STAAR or approved alternatives depending on content) and that the district has expanded pathways so nearly every teacher has an opportunity to participate, with ongoing work to include more CTE teachers via pre/post assessments.
What happens next: administration requested budget amendments to cover the higher payout levels anticipated under the new state acknowledgement level, and staff will continue data collection and submit updated TIA counts next October.
