The West Washington School Board amended and approved a personnel report at its May 18 meeting that included summer hires, teacher appointments and coaching assignments for the 2026–27 school year.
The board specified that Ruby Walker will begin as an elementary special-education teacher at salary point A on the bachelor's schedule for the 2026–27 year. Board members also moved to hire Kyle Brown as a credit recovery/remediation teacher at salary point H on the bachelor's schedule and approved a Schedule C contract to appoint him as co-varsity girls basketball coach so he can begin summer duties.
The personnel report, which also listed multiple teachers being hired and other schedule C athletic assignments, was approved by motion. During the vote the board recorded that one member abstained from at least one personnel item because of a conflict of interest; the transcript does not name the member who abstained.
Board members welcomed Brown and thanked staff involved in recruiting and placing summer hires. The board approved the personnel motions and moved on to other agenda items.
