During the Strategic Planning Committee meeting, the Assistant Superintendent provided updates on district planning work including AI implementation, curriculum writing and math pathway reviews.
“We're also focusing on MAI and crafting an AI literacy outline for students as part of gathering information, and that will be launched next year,” the Assistant Superintendent said, describing a District Instructional Leadership Team convening teacher leaders across K–12 to build an AI literacy framework.
Committee members discussed math pathways and recent middle‑school changes; staff said they plan to solicit teacher and student feedback and meet with ninth‑through‑12th‑grade math teachers in coming weeks. A brief budget note mentioned two additional FTEs intended to reduce study‑hall type blocks in the high school schedule.
A board member raised concerns about limited admission seats at regional technical high schools and shared an article describing annex‑style expansions used elsewhere; staff said the technical‑school application process is managed at the middle‑school level and district acceptance figures were not available at the meeting. The items were presented for information and the committee adjourned to await the full board.
