City says two major water‑treatment projects nearing completion; commissioning to begin

City staff told the council May 18 that major upgrades at the Stillwater water‑treatment plant are approaching completion and will soon enter commissioning and operation.

Mr. Moore reported that the city’s two large projects at the plant—each valued at about $25 million—are nearing completion: the recovered water pump station will enter commissioning in the upcoming weeks and the finished water pump station is expected to be operational in June, subject to final testing. Staff also said follow‑on chemical feed and package upgrades are progressing smoothly and that key components are being installed and readied for operation.

Councilors and staff acknowledged the technical importance of the pump‑station work as a precursor to other improvements and thanked the crews and contractors for their progress. No action was required; staff provided the status update for information and continued oversight.
