Troy City Council approves $140,000 in emergency funding for Troy Development Council

The Troy City Council adopted Resolution R27206 on May 18, 2026, authorizing emergency funding of $140,000 to the Troy Development Council (TDC) for 2026. The Finance Committee recommended preparing legislation to fund the TDC while the city finalizes the organization’s role as an economic development partner.

Finance Committee chair Mr. Sver presented the committee’s recommendation that the allocation be paid in quarterly installments and that council adopt emergency legislation so that the first two quarterly payments can be made promptly. The committee’s recommendation was "respectfully submitted" by Mr. Whitten, Miss Westfall and Mr. Sver.

Council moved to suspend the rules and adopt the resolution. Roll-call votes were recorded in favor and the resolution was adopted. Council members said they would continue to define the TDC’s role while providing the recommended support.

Separately, Mr. Schilling reported an Ohio Division of Liquor Control application for a D5 permit for SB Troy Hospitality LLC at 845 West Market Street; the police department had not recommended an objection or hearing.
