Commissioners approve $78,970 purchase of jail transport van

The Osage County Board of County Commissioners voted to approve purchase order No. 4159 on May 19, 2026, to buy a 2025 Chevy Express transport van from STV for $78,970.25 to be paid from the jail equipment fund.

Chris, who presented the request, described the van as a turnkey transport solution for the jail and noted the purchase price and setup costs. Commissioners asked whether operating the van required special certifications; staff said it generally requires two people per transport and discussed potential staffing impacts.

The motion, including the purchase order number and funding source, was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. Commissioners and staff noted the purchase will temporarily reduce available personnel for other duties when two staff are assigned to transports.

The county will work with the jail and county controller to finalize coding and payment from the jail equipment fund, and staff agreed to coordinate on certifications and operator requirements that may be necessary for medical transports or specialized uses.
