Board accepts $1,009,900 low bid for Otter Creek Middle and Davis Park Elementary cooling towers

The Vigo County School Corporation board on Monday approved a staff recommendation to accept the low bid from Sycamore Engineering for cooling tower and pump replacements at Otter Creek Middle School and Davis Park Elementary.

Clinton Gresham told the board that bids opened April 28 produced three responses and that Sycamore Engineering submitted the low bid at $1,009,900. Staff reviewed the bids and the required documents and recommended issuing a notice to proceed and directing the contractor to secure materials and labor pending contract acceptance.

A board member asked how soon work would begin after approval; Gresham said materials must be ordered and a schedule had not yet been confirmed. The board moved, seconded and approved the recommendation by voice vote.

The motion authorizes staff to proceed with contract acceptance steps and issue the notice to proceed; exact start dates and a construction schedule were not provided at the meeting.
