Foreign exchange students introduce themselves; board recognizes class of 2026 valedictorian and salutatorian

At the start of the Culver Community Schools board meeting, foreign exchange students stood before the board to introduce themselves and describe their experiences in the district.

Students identified themselves (one student named Dan said he is from Germany; others gave first names only) and described why they chose the exchange program—family ties and cultural interest—and what they enjoyed here, citing sports, a senior trip to Florida and welcoming teachers. One student said the ‘‘first hour’’ teacher and the welcoming nature of small-class relationships were highlights.

The board then introduced the class of 2026 valedictorian and salutatorian, named in the transcript as Jonas Mchuan (valedictorian) and Caleb Mchuan (salutatorian), who discussed the demands of balancing athletics and academics, described their college plans (both said they will attend Indiana University Bloomington), and suggested opportunities for more dual-credit courses and greater family involvement in school life.

The recognitions were ceremonial; no board action was required. Board members congratulated the students and invited them to stay for the remainder of the meeting.
