The Finance Committee invited CEO Marlene Amadei and representatives of Haitian Community Partners to mark Haitian Heritage Month and describe the nonprofit’s programs in Brockton.
A representative speaking for Haitian Community Partners outlined the organization’s work in outreach, mental-health awareness, youth engagement, immigrant support, health, education and cultural empowerment. “On behalf of Haitian Community Partners, we want to thank you for the opportunity to speak during Haitian Heritage Month,” the representative said.
Multiple councilors thanked the organization for its decade of service in Brockton and highlighted Haitian Flag Day on May 18. Councilor Green told the group they ‘‘make a difference every day through…community work’’ and other members offered public expressions of gratitude.
The committee voted to recommend the recognition favorably to the full City Council.
The committee moved on after the recognition and concluded the evening with additional council remarks and announcements about upcoming ordinance meetings.
