Board reorganizes operations, creates executive director role and accepts land donation

The Perrysburg Board approved a small operations reorganization and related consent items that the board said will reduce overlap and save district funds.

Board members voted to create an Executive Director of Business Operations (grade 313) and moved to hire James Mapis for that role. Board discussion said the change follows a vacancy and reassigns responsibilities to realize savings; a member said the reorganization will save "close to $100,000." The motions to create the position and to hire Mapis passed by roll call.

The board also approved acceptance of a land donation affecting Fort Megs property; board members corrected the resolution language to note the parcel as Fort Megs property rather than HBI and approved the measure by roll call.

Why it matters: The reorganization restructures operations-level responsibilities and may free funds that the board and administrators said could be used for priorities such as student programs and maintenance. The land donation reduces mowing and liability responsibilities for the district in that parcel.
