Cole County commission approves routine contract renewals, accepts collector's annual settlement

At the May 19 meeting commissioners approved several routine procurement and financial items.

Contracts: The commission approved the third renewal of the inmate welfare products contract with Bob Barker Company, accepting an 8% price increase after staff reported the sheriff indicated acceptance. The commission also approved the first renewal for garage door installation and maintenance with Overhead Door Company of Central Missouri at existing pricing.

Financials: Commissioners moved to approve accounts payable pending review and accepted the collector's annual settlement for the fiscal year ending Feb. 28, 2026. The collector reported total charges and distributions and noted a $3 discrepancy on roughly $117 million in collections; commissioners asked clarifying questions about delinquency reports and distribution columns before voting to accept the report.

Administrative: The commission approved a request to run a sole-source advertisement for outdoor warning consulting, which staff said is the only known source compatible with the county's current warning system.
