Board members were told that April Williams, who has served in special education for the district for roughly a year and a half, will return home and is leaving the district. Staff said the departure "has nothing to do with anything in Eunice" and that the district has already identified a candidate who "has all the requirements and has done the job before" to take over special‑education responsibilities next year.
Board members thanked Williams for her work cleaning up issues in the special‑education program and for progress made during her tenure. The district indicated that work remains, but said the program is headed in the right direction.
The board also approved the district's annual IDEA/IDAB application renewal for the 2026–27 school year; staff noted the routine renewal and recorded approval by roll call.
Ending: The district will file IDEA renewal paperwork and staff said they will transition responsibilities to the incoming special‑education lead before the next school year.
