Schools report rising SAT scores, summer‑school signups and construction progress

School leaders updated the board on enrollment, end‑of‑year events and test results, and Director of Operations Drew Reynolds provided facility and construction progress reports.

Medy Jordan Elementary Principal Jenny Ortiz said the school has 365 students enrolled, 35 kindergarten pre‑registrations from the roundup, and 104 students already enrolled in summer school; kindergarten promotion and fifth‑grade promotion dates were shared. Another site reported 161 students enrolled and noted recent senior graduation events.

Miss Davis reported the high school had 222 students enrolled, with 49 of 50 seniors receiving diplomas. She said the district's overall SAT average rose 16 points from last year, with reading and writing up 11 points and math up six points; she also said about 18 of 56 students (roughly 30%) met or exceeded proficiency in reading and writing and that curriculum adjustments prompted by the state no longer requiring Algebra II may change course offerings.

On facilities, Drew Reynolds said landscapers are finishing greenhouse wiring, plumbing crews are moving into school demo zones (middle hall and teacher bathrooms), gym abatement will take approximately two to two and a half months, painters have started district‑wide painting, and the outdoor recreation project's foundation pour is scheduled with surface work to follow 30 days later and then building erection.

Ending: Staff expect more summer‑school enrollments and pending test results for middle and elementary grades due Friday; construction and renovation work will proceed over the summer in coordination with school schedules.
