The Solon Springs School District Board of Education on May 18 approved a series of routine business items, including adoption of the Bound Pro athletic-management platform and several personnel and policy actions.
The board voted to adopt the Bound Pro package for athletics and facilities management after a brief discussion of options and fees. Board members heard that Bound provides two card readers and that, per the vendor, digital ticketing only needs to be available as an option for patrons; transactions under $10 carry a $0.90 service charge, with an additional 5% fee applied to higher-priced tickets. Six of the conference’s 10 schools indicated they plan to use the platform.
In personnel business, the board accepted the resignation of Spanish teacher John Bass and approved a Dean of Students job description that had been discussed at a previous meeting. The board also approved two separate policy packets: one packet of general policy changes (first readings previously discussed) and a second packet related to school support organizations and financial groupings. The board approved a motion to document an existing practice of charging the district daycare 10% of the garbage bill after auditors requested the arrangement be formalized.
Votes were recorded as voice votes in the meeting record; the transcript reports motions, seconds and the chair calling for favor, with the motion carrying in each instance. The meeting concluded with a motion to convene into closed session under the Wisconsin statute cited in the record to discuss personnel matters.
The board also received and approved the treasurer’s report and expenditures for the month. The treasurer reported account balances and activity in the meeting record.
