County engineer seeks bids for $5.5 million Dyke Road reconstruction project

County Engineer Susan Eugenius told the board the county will call for bids on the Dyke Road Reconstruction project, a reconstruction covering 2.27 miles north of Capable that will pulverize the existing asphalt, add rock and cement to create a cement‑treated base, correct curves and widen the roadway to full lanes.

Eugenius gave an engineer’s estimate “just under $5.5 million” and said the project will receive approximately $1.692 million from the County Road Administration Board, with the remainder drawn from the county road fund and PFD (public facilities) funds. The call‑for‑bids opening date was set for June 15 to align with expected receipt of the final permit.

Eugenius said the work includes safety improvements and lane widening; the board did not vote on a contract at the meeting but authorized staff to advertise the bid package with a June 15 opening.

The engineer asked to return with the final permit and recommended award documents after bid opening.
