Haddon Township board honors four All‑American student‑athletes, unveils individual banner plan

The Haddon Township School District board recognized four student‑athletes on the superintendent’s report, unveiling plans to add an individual All‑American banner in the high school lobby.

Superintendent (S2) opened the item by saying, “we're here tonight to recognize some incredible contributions in the area of athletics,” and described a district decision made about five years ago to reorganize gym displays so team accomplishments are shown in the gym and individual achievements are displayed in the lobby.

Mr. George, the district athletic director (S3), introduced the honorees — named in the meeting as Kevin, Luke, Ryan and Shelby — and summarized recent team and individual results, including Colonial Conference and sectional championships and several state titles. “These 3 athletes that are with us tonight, they chose to compete because they wanted to be part of their peers,” Mr. George said, noting the students’ sustained training and school records.

A coach who spoke at the meeting (identified in the transcript by role) described Luke Chapman’s breakout 2022 season, citing 25 goals, 22 assists and multiple school records, and recounted his recovery from a leg injury that required surgery. “He was an all American player, all American student, all American kid,” the coach said.
