The Peachtree City Council approved a number of routine and project-related items during its meeting. Key approvals and outcomes:
- HVAC purchase for the Peachtree City Library: Council approved the purchase of four new HVAC units in the amount of $504,542 to be awarded to Shumate; staff noted an applicable $150,000 grant that will be used and the units have an 18-week lead time.
- Mead Recreation Complex driveway cost-share: Council approved an agreement with Fayette Rockaway 30 LLC for a new driveway entrance. Project cost was stated at $652,580.50 and the developer’s reimbursement to the city is $238,169.50 (about 36.5%). Construction is already underway with an expected completion in two to three weeks.
- Handbill ordinance (Ordinance 1255): Council adopted an updated handbill ordinance intended to reduce litter from handbill distribution and to conform to recent case law and comparable jurisdictions.
- City operating policies (Ordinance 1256): Council approved an ordinance consolidating several administrative policies into a single city operating policy code, with a staff-proposed edit replacing a specific director reference with "city manager or designee" for an ADA grievance committee appointment.
- PlayWorld playground at Mead: Council approved the Mead playground purchase and installation by PlayWorld for $266,678.40, describing ADA-adaptive surfacing and equipment.
- Entertainment district: The Avenue (CP Venture 5, APC LLC) at 239 City Circle received approval as the first applicant under the newly adopted entertainment-district ordinance; the pilot will be reassessed at 12 months.
- Consent agenda: Council approved consent items a–f which included establishing a youth city council; the council also accepted a $5,000 donation from Ryan Holmes for Memorial Day and a back-to-school event.
- Executive session: Council voted to enter executive session to discuss real estate matters at the end of the meeting.
