County staff used the communications portion of the May 21 meeting to announce two personnel and civic‑engagement items.
Tony, a county communications/benefits staff member, said a voluntary wellness program will roll out June 1 offering county employees access to discounted GLP‑1 weight‑loss medications and health counseling and support. "This will give them access to GLP 1 weight loss medication discounted cost," Tony said, and staff noted the program is voluntary and offered through the county's third‑party administrator 90 Degree Benefits in partnership with New Edge Health. Tony said the program is "no cost to the county" and staff will distribute flyers and email notices to employees.
Separately, commissioners discussed the library board recruitment: with one application received for two openings, the commission agreed to extend the application deadline by one week to the 29th and to update the website to reflect the new deadline.
Why it matters: the wellness program changes employee benefit options and could affect utilization of county health benefits; the library deadline extension aims to widen the candidate pool for two board openings. Staff said outreach will continue and interviews can be scheduled quickly once applications arrive.
