The Moroni City Council approved two largely editorial ordinance and policy updates and covered several routine community and operational items.
Ordinance updates: Council reviewed language clarifications to Moroni City Ordinance Title 4 (noise definition section 4-2-6) to make enforcement clearer for staff and approved the change after a motion by Fred Atkinson with Jake Bagley seconding. The council also approved editorial cleanups to the city’s development review and improvement requirements policy to align wording with state code and local procedure; Draper moved and Taylor seconded that item.
Appointments and operations: The council recognized the retirement of a long-serving Planning & Zoning commissioner (Denny/Danny) and swore in Sarah Perry to the commission. Council members also discussed and agreed to allow the town of Wales to borrow a small John Deere tractor (not the backhoe) under a signed liability agreement and with a fee to be returned to the streets fund.
Community events: Staff outlined plans for a summer kickoff on May 30, relocation of the Turkey Barbecue to the Rhett Complex to reduce congestion, carnival logistics, and softball tournament preparations. Council discussed sponsorships, equipment needs and volunteer roles.
The council approved the March 19 and March 25, 2026 minutes and took several brief operational reports before adjourning at 07:25.
