Jonathan Underhill and Rebecca Orr were sworn in as members of the Lucas City Council at the council’s May 21 meeting. City Secretary Tasha Kimball administered the oaths and Mayor Dusty Kuykendall presided.
Underhill, taking seat 1, thanked residents for entrusting him with the position and praised outgoing council members. "I want to start by saying thank you to all the residents of Lucas for entrusting me with this position," Underhill said, adding that he did not take the responsibility lightly and thanking councilmembers Tim Johnson and Brian Stubblefield for their service.
Rebecca Orr, sworn into seat 2, also expressed gratitude to voters, family and supporters. "I just wanted to thank everybody for the support. Thank you for the citizens of Lucas for entrusting me with this responsibility," Orr said.
The council welcomed the newly seated members and invited brief remarks. No formal votes were required to administer the oaths. The council continued with its agenda after the swearing-in.
Next steps: Underhill and Orr will join the full council for upcoming meetings and agenda items; committee and liaison assignments will be addressed as part of routine council business.
