The Lucas City Council approved multiple board and commission appointments and made leadership assignments at its May 21 meeting.
Mayor Dusty Kuykendall recommended appointments to the Board of Adjustments / Building and Standards Commission, including Paula Walker (member, unexpired term 01/01/2026–12/31/2027), Peggy Rusterholtz (member, unexpired term 01/01/2025–12/31/2026), Richard Schertz (alternate member 1, unexpired term 01/01/2025–12/31/2026) and Kurt Silverstein (alternate member 2, unexpired term 01/01/2026–12/31/2027). A motion to appoint the listed candidates was made, seconded and carried unanimously.
Council also appointed Sean Watts (alternate commissioner 1, unexpired term 01/01/2026–12/31/2027) and Mark Davis (alternate commissioner 2, unexpired term 01/01/2025–12/31/2026) to the Planning and Zoning Commission; those positions also serve on the Capital Improvements Advisory Committee. The motion was seconded and approved by unanimous voice vote.
Councilmember Chris Beerman volunteered to serve as the council liaison to the Board of Adjustments and the council approved that liaison appointment by voice vote.
On leadership, Councilmember Fisher was nominated by her colleagues to serve another one-year term as Mayor Pro Tem (06/01/2026–05/31/2027) and the council approved the nomination.
All appointments were presented as recommendations by the mayor or council and approved without a recorded roll-call tally in the transcript.
