Richmond Parks and Recreation staff and program leads provided operational updates on markets, rentals and senior-center activities during the meeting.
Market staff (Speaker 6) reported April market cashouts of $2,471, vendor fees of $2,167.50, and winter SNAP transactions totaling $13,920 with WIC cashed out at $3,217. The farm-to-pantry work has served over 3,600 servings of fresh produce to local food pantries, and the department reported 35 season-pass vendors and 31 daily vendors (noting additional approvals from the previous meeting would add to those counts). Market staff also announced a kids' farmers market sponsored by UEA and a summer title sponsor, Revitalize Richmond.
In recreational services, staff member Emma (Speaker 5) said cabin rentals continue to increase; she reported nine dock rentals and noted dock rates were not raised even as other fees changed. The department indicated bait sales are a steady revenue source.
Senior-center staff (Speaker 7) said membership has grown (about 100 new members since January), highlighted successful activities including a safety hunt and Earth Day projects, and previewed a September fraud forum focusing on AI, phone and medical scams targeting seniors.
Board members thanked staff for program work and asked operational questions; staff indicated continuing recruitment for positions such as greenskeeper and highlighted ongoing efforts to staff seasonal roles.
Staff encouraged the public to attend market events and to follow department social media and newsletters for updates.
