The University City Board of Education approved multiple facilities actions after presentations from facilities staff.
A facilities presenter (S16) reviewed proposed terrazzo‑style baseboards for Flint Park and Jackson Park and answered board questions about materials and photos provided in advance. The meeting then moved to a sewer‑piping problem in an older building; facilities staff (S13) said camera inspections found the current configuration inadequate and recommended a repair that would address repeated sewer backups. “We did a camera inspection…and the solution that's being proposed will address the sewage issues,” S13 said.
The board moved to award a contract to Gravity Drain Services for the sewer repairs; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Earlier in the facilities block the board also approved a motion to repair and replace specified fixtures at district sites by voice vote.
Why it matters: The items authorize targeted capital work to address operational problems and preserve facilities for student use. Facilities work was presented as capital improvements and several items were approved to proceed to contracting.
Next steps: Staff will solicit and record contract documentation and proceed with the repairs as authorized; board members asked for additional bid information and for follow‑up in committee as needed.
