Soil Conservation District asks Grant County to add zoning rules for data centers and solar facilities

Sam Jensen and Eric Friesz, representing the Grant County Soil Conservation District, attended the April 9, 2026 meeting of the Grant County Planning & Zoning Commission to request that the county adopt zoning language for data centers and solar power facilities.

Jensen and Friesz told commissioners they would like zoning ordinances for those facility types added to the current zoning code so the county can better regulate siting and land-use impacts. The minutes record the request and do not show a vote or formal referral to staff at this meeting.

P&Z Director Jason Albert presented other agenda items during the same meeting, but the minutes do not report that the commission took immediate action on the Soil Conservation District’s request. The commission will next meet on May 14, 2026.
