The Town of Daniel opened a special meeting May 20 and recessed into a public hearing to accept comment on a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) awarded to complete a Storm Haven water master plan.
Mary (staff member) said the town’s application succeeded in the regional rating process and that "the Storm Haven water master plan project was awarded $48,750 for the engineers at Jones and DeMille." She described the scope as a capital facilities plan that will include community demographics, a water-rights analysis, source and storage analysis, distribution system hydraulics and a prioritized list of recommended improvements with probable costs.
The hearing invited members of the public to state their names and make comments; no speakers came forward before the chair closed the hearing. After a brief votes to open and close the hearing, the meeting proceeded to other agenda items.
Why it matters: The master plan will give Daniel an engineering-backed priority list and probable cost estimates to guide capital investment in the Storm Haven water system. The award covers an initial planning/engineering effort rather than construction funding.
Next steps: Staff confirmed copies of the town’s capital investment plan are available at town offices for residents who want more detail; the town will work with Jones & DeMille on the master planning process and report back to the council as the project progresses.
