Humboldt County officials discussed using 605 K Street in Eureka as a new Day Reporting Center during the Community Corrections Partnership Executive Committee meeting on May 20. Public Works provided information indicating the building would need an estimated $2 million in work; some ADA improvements would be paid by the building owner. Anticipated rent was reported at about $14,000 per month.
Chief Probation Officer Coral Sanders raised the possibility of un‑encumbering current CCP funds allocated for a jail expansion (the minutes show $3.85 million currently encumbered) to support the Day Reporting Center. Director Connie Beck (DHHS) said Mental Health Diversion and Care Court staff would be located in the building if the site is secured.
Committee members did not vote at the Executive Committee meeting; members discussed bringing a motion to the full CCP to fund renting 605 K Street. Public Works’ input and the building owner’s willingness to fund certain ADA work were cited as part of preliminary feasibility considerations.
Next steps: staff indicated a motion to rent the site will be placed on the full CCP agenda; the committee set the next Executive Committee meeting for June 17, 2026. Members were asked to submit agenda items by email to Coral Sanders or Lauren Lund.
