Resident raises concerns about cannabis vendor and bakery at Park Ridge Pride; asks council to monitor state bill

During public comment on May 18, Missy Langan of the 7th Ward asked the Park Ridge City Council to review two vendors expected at Park Ridge Pride — a bakery she described as "not a traditional bakery" and a cannabis store on Higgins — saying she feared they might violate the state’s advertising and distance restrictions as adopted into the city code. She told the council she was concerned the vendors would be "less than a 100 feet from a kid's bounce house" and said she did not believe giveaways would be permitted under state law.

Langan said she was not requesting an immediate decision but asked for a response or correction from staff. She also asked whether the city is tracking Illinois House Bill 1429, which she described as related to homeless modifications, and suggested Park Ridge consider objecting as other municipalities have done.

Mayor invited a follow-up from staff; no staff response was recorded during the public comment period. Council did not take action at the meeting; the item remains a request for staff clarification and possible follow-up.
