Board honors Faith Zenker for 35 years and proclaims National Public Works Week

The Board of Supervisors recognized Faith Zenker for 35 years with San Luis Obispo County Public Works, adopting a resolution that recounted Zenker’s career progression from laboratory technician to water quality manager and highlighted her role in regulatory compliance, safety protocol changes and mentorship.

Courtney Howard, deputy director of Public Works, and Kate Valentine from the executive office delivered remarks praising Zenker’s leadership on water‑quality permits, treatment plant startup procedures and coordination with state regulators. Zenker accepted the resolution and thanked her colleagues.

The board also proclaimed National Public Works Week (May 17–23, 2026). Director John Diodati introduced a department video showcasing Public Works services, accreditation by the American Public Works Association and recognitions such as the Los Osos Wastewater Treatment Plant award and EPA partnership efforts.

Board members thanked Public Works staff for daily operations, emergency response and projects across the county.
