The Denton Public Utilities Board on May 18 approved a one‑year prequalified vendor list with up to four one‑year extensions for municipal parking lot repairs and ADA transition work, establishing a not‑to‑exceed program total of $17,808,000.
Tom Braemer, Director of Facilities and Fleet Services, said the solicitation produced multiple firms and staff selected three contractors — CI Pavement, Diamond M Construction and Solid Foundations LLC — as the prequalified bench. Each job will be bid among the three contractors on a project‑specific basis to promote competition and allow departments to coordinate related sidewalk and right‑of‑way work.
Board members asked how the multi‑year arrangement will operate; Braemer said the procurement allows a 1+4 year term and that staff will return to the board for reauthorization if necessary. The board also discussed the potential for market fluctuations and the contract clause allowing up to a 25% increase before requiring resolicitation. Members noted the capital forecast and work plan put projected work below available funding levels.
The board voted to approve the prequalified vendors unanimously.
