Village to consider permit rules for tour buses visiting Holy Father's childhood home

Administrator Manesopoulos told trustees the village has seen an increase in unauthorized buses visiting the Holy Father's childhood home and proposed Ordinance 269009 to require permits and establish approved hours and operational guidelines for tour buses.

Manesopoulos said the goal is to regulate traffic flow, protect residential neighborhoods from congestion and maintain public safety while not discouraging visitors. “It's important that all bus drivers be required to obtain the proper permits and follow the designated operational guidelines established by the village,” he said.

Trustees did not vote at the committee meeting but agreed to place the ordinance on the June 1 agenda for formal consideration and to allow additional review by staff and trustees.
