Youth of Burnett County seeks to rent a classroom from district

Board members reviewed a request from Youth of Burnett County (YOBC) to rent a vacant classroom with outside access at the middle school for evening or after-school programming.

A staff member said YOBC and district staff discussed locating the rented space in the middle-school hallway so visitors would not go through commons areas. Members sought clarity about whether the renter would be given a fob, how restroom access would be handled, whether the gym might be requested and how liability and supervision would be managed if the space is used during evenings. One member asked whether the applicant would be asked to sign a character or confidentiality agreement.

The board discussed price. Transcript notes a range of roughly '$200 to $500' for rent; staff said the exact figure would be determined after the board chooses a location and scope of use. Members agreed to ask YOBC for a more detailed proposal and to invite the applicant to an upcoming meeting so board members can ask follow-up questions.

Context: YOBC was described in discussion as a grant-funded prevention coalition focused on vaping, alcohol and drug-use prevention; it is not a school-run program, staff said.
