A representative of Arts & Old Town asked the Greenwood board on May 18 to clarify what parts of a proposed pump-protection park-trail public-art project the board had approved and who the primary city contact would be while the project completes engineering and legal review.
The presenter said the project’s scope and vision have not changed from the original submission but that engineering and legal staff have outstanding questions about placement, insurance and implementation details. The group said it had supplied the full presentation to staff and was seeking direction on who to contact while a regular staff coordinator is on leave.
Representatives stressed they would prefer Greenwood be the pilot launch community because the project originated there and they had received interest from neighboring jurisdictions. Board members told the presenters to arrange meetings with staff (including Gabe Nelson, mentioned as planning director) and with the city’s capital project manager, Kevin Steinmetz, to align the necessary technical and permitting conversations.
Megan (a group leader who said she is president of the local organizing group) thanked the board for the initial conceptual support and said the group would coordinate with staff and the mayor’s office as requested. Board members emphasized that installations on private property may not require city approval but that any placement on city property or within the right of way will require staff sign-off and appropriate insurance.
The board did not make a final decision on implementation details at the meeting and directed the presenters to follow up with staff for next steps.
