The board approved spending to replace a dump truck transmission after Dan Parsons, road and bridge superintendent, reported the existing transmission was contaminated by coolant and irreparable. Parsons provided an estimate of $13,025 and asked authorization to spend up to about $13,200 to cover potential shop supplies; the motion to approve the expenditure passed on a voice vote.
The board also approved a motion by the clerk (Rose) to move next week’s meeting from May 25 to May 26 at 9 a.m. and asked staff to place meeting documents in SharePoint for prior review.
Separately, the board reviewed a real-property disaster relief application from owners of a single-family home at 45 Park Lane in Mound City that was destroyed by the April 13 tornado. Commissioners said they supported providing relief in principle but deferred action to allow the county attorney and the appraiser to review the application and to place the item on next week’s agenda for final consideration.
Finally, commissioners noted a confusion about whether a parcel list for industrial-park appraisals had been published as previously motioned; staff were asked to verify the minutes and ensure proper publication before re-listing the solicitation.
