Agenda preview: council packet flags KDOT trial, park trail, museum HVAC and $260,000 multimodal change order

During agenda review, Dante told the council that staff will present several items at an upcoming meeting: a KDOT supplemental agreement to pilot embedded roadway technology, a right‑of‑way agreement for a multiuse trail at Crystal Prairie Lake Park, a vendor selection for HVAC work at the Sedgwick County Historical Museum (which the city owns the facility for), and a change order for the multimodal facility estimated at about $260,000.

"Change order number 1 for the multimodal facility… approximately $260,000 covering a wide range of items related to the hub," Dante said while summarizing the packet. He also flagged a first quarter performance report from Visit Wichita, a notice of intent to use debt financing for Colonel James Jabara Airport, and a public exigency item for Wastewater Treatment Plant No. 2; Don Henry was available for questions on the latter.

A council member asked whether the museum HVAC contract covered items the county and city are each responsible for; Dante and another council member clarified the county funds museum operations while the city covers facility maintenance under the operating agreement.

Paul Gunzeman was identified as available to answer questions on the KDOT projects. Penny Feist from transit was present in relation to a contract with RideCare for demand‑response software.

No formal votes or contract awards were recorded during the agenda review; the items were presented for council members’ questions ahead of future action.
