Redwood County reappoints veteran service officer, approves personnel changes and workplace violence policy

The Redwood County Board of Commissioners on March 3 reappointed Roger Zollner to a four‑year term as the county Veteran Service Officer beginning March 15, 2026. The action was taken by resolution under Minnesota Statute §197.60 and will be forwarded to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Separately, the board approved a set of personnel policy revisions. The minutes list changes including annualization of the Physical Exam & Screening wellness incentive, an increase in the Sick for Wellness rate from $80 to $144 per day (8 hours), updates to leave provisions to comply with Emergency Sick and Safe Time (ESST) and Minnesota Paid Medical Family Leave, clarification of timecard increments to 15 minutes, mandatory 15‑minute rest breaks for every four hours worked, and increases to floating holiday accruals and boot reimbursement eligibility tied to specified positions.

The board also acknowledged two hires presented by county staff: Elyse Vogland as a full‑time correctional officer in the Sheriff’s Department effective March 9, 2026, at LELS Non‑Licensed Correctional Officer step 1 ($27.83 per hour), and Sarah Buttiglieri as Assistant County Attorney effective April 13, 2026, on the 2026 non‑union salary schedule Grade 18 step 1 ($51.80 per hour).

Finally, the board adopted the Redwood County Workplace Violence Prevention Program. All of the above actions were approved by recorded motions and unanimous votes in the minutes.
