The Redwood County Board of Commissioners on March 17 awarded Flint Hills the county’s 2026 asphalt supply and delivery contract for $481,218 and approved a series of related road and maintenance agreements.
Theis moved to award the asphalt contract; Van Hee seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The county’s bid tab listed H.G. Meigs and Jebro, Inc. as other bidders; Flint Hills was selected for the stated seasonal requirements and the alternate bid pricing was included in the record.
Also approved were Crossing Replacement Agreements with Twin Cities & Western Railroad Company for county state-aid highways in Belview, CSAH 9 west of Delhi and CSAH 25 north of Redwood Falls. The Board authorized the Chair and County Administrator to sign those agreements.
The Board unanimously approved a three-year mowing and ground-maintenance contract for Dekalb and Normandale with Smith Lawn Care Co. for $29,850 and authorized signature by county leadership. Commissioners also approved a Construction and Maintenance Agreement with the City of Sanborn for reconstruction of CSAH 115 beginning summer 2026 and a Permit and Road Use Agreement with Northern States Power Company.
Taken together, the actions commit county staff to proceed with multiple infrastructure projects and related vendor contracts for the 2026 construction season. The Board recorded motions and unanimous votes; the minutes show signatures were authorized for the Chair and County Administrator where required.
Looking ahead, the county’s road program will move forward with the contractor selections and intergovernmental agreements approved at this meeting.
